The Photographic Arts Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania (“PASNWPA”) is hosting a full-day photography workshop, “Imagery to Artistry - Illuminate, Create and Get Inspired!” led by Internationally acclaimed photographer, Doug Hansgate. The workshop is on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 9 am – 4 pm on the Mercyhurst University campus in Erie, PA. The full-day workshop includes two sessions. In the morning session, Doug will explore the different qualities of light and the importance of shadow. Doug will demonstrate the effects of various lighting sources and show attendees how to use light to their advantage when capturing their images. Photography is all about capturing that light, and creating three-dimensional contrast in our images, regardless of the subject. The photography demonstrations will include still life compositions and flowers and how those lighting scenarios relate to the real world of wildlife and landscape photography. The afternoon session will focus on how to transform those images into artwork, using tools and techniques in Photoshop, Lightroom, and other plugins. Whether you are a beginner photographer or have mastered one of the extreme image transformational techniques like digital painting, this workshop will provide you with the tools, techniques, and inspiration to set your artwork apart! The regular price of the workshop, which includes lunch, is $129. Those who register prior to April 1, will receive a 20% discount. Advanced Reservations are required as seating is limited! Anyone who is interested should make their reservations online on the PANSWPA website (www.pasnwpa.org) under “Events.
