Ever wonder why horror movies love to take a jab at the filthy rich? The Eerie Horror Fest (EHF) Presents team is peeling back the layers on how horror films have been throwing shade at the wealthy and their not-so-secret societies. From old-school classics that show the rich as literal monsters munching on the less fortunate, to Jordan Peele's genius takes in "Us" and "Get Out" that have us all side-eyeing the 1%. We're diving deep into the nefarious world of wealth in horror. Explore the creepy corridors of class struggle, the eerie estates of economic inequality, and the ghastly ghosts of capitalism gone wrong. Whether it's the grotesque glamour of "Society" or the terrifying tales of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," uncover the real horrors lurking behind those hefty bank accounts and gated communities.
So, if you've ever muttered "eat the rich" under your breath, this is one horror show you won't want to miss! Eerie Horror Fest Presents... is a guided discussion of horror media that meets at Room 33 in downtown Erie, PA. Admission is $10 per person at the door (no online sales). Each horrific meeting has a theme and accompanying media put together by our EHF Presents team. Attendees will be led by sociologist Dr. Rhonda Matthews to delve into content and themes represented in horror in fun, analytical, and eye-opening ways.
