Pack your bags, jump in the car, and make your plans to visit Erie for the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.
To celebrate the rare 2024 Total Solar Eclipse, many attractions in Erie are planning events and celebrations. Erie is the only major city in the path of totality, and has the privilege of nearly four minutes of complete darkness on April 8, 2024, with totality beginning at 3:16 p.m. If you want to witness totality among a community of fellow eclipse watchers, make plans now to be at one of these events!
This blog will be updated frequently as new events and details are finalized. Please be aware that large crowds are expected in Erie during the Total Solar Eclipse, and parking and space may be limited. Make your plans in advance, and give yourself ample time to arrive and park at your desired destination.

Eclipse Day Downtown! - Children's Education Fair
Join the Erie Downtown Partnership, expERIEnce Children’s Museum, and others for an educational fair for the Total Solar Eclipse in Perry Square! The event feature children’s STEAM learning activities, the Erie County Library Bookmobile, a visit from several representatives from NASA, astrophysicists, and more. Penn State Behrend and Gannon University will be in East Perry Square with a special sunscreen window for small children to be able to safely view the eclipse without having to keep glasses on. Erie Downtown Partnership is encouraging attendees to keep traffic issues in mind and either walk or carpool to the event if possible.

Total Eclipse At The Park
Enjoy the Eclipse from Liberty Park-Highmark Amphitheater! Port of Erie is hosting a watch party with entertainment by DJ Bill from LECOM Radio and food from Lombardo Concessions. Liberty Park is a great waterfront location to view Presque Isle Bay!

SeaWolves ‘Block’ Party
Enjoy howlin’ good fun with the Erie SeaWolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, as they host a ‘Block’ Party on Monday, April 8 from 1-4 PM to celebrate the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse. This memorable event will include live entertainment, headlined by Erie Native, Katie Linendoll. As well a live NASA feed on the giant UPMC Park video board, kids activities, autograph stations featuring SeaWolves players, photo opportunities with the 2023 Eastern League Championship trophy and mascot C. Wolf, the chance to win prizes and game tickets, and outstanding views from the Bud Light Party Deck. This event will be the first public event for fans to meet this year’s team. Limited edition eclipse-inspired SeaWolves merchandise will be available for purchase at the event. Themed concessions will also be available for purchase inside UPMC Park. Gates will open at 12:30. Eclipse Within Our Gates - the Eclipse at Mercyhurst University
Experience the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse within the gates of Mercyhurst University, as they open their gates to the community with lectures and activities, plus a special viewing of the eclipse from campus. Activities will include educational talks, glasses and glow-ware giveaways, and a special viewing event at Saxon Stadium with music.
Mercyhurst University has been designated by NASA as a "Sunspot Viewing Site" and will host events both day-of, and leading up to Erie's Total Solar Eclipse. Learn more here.

Zooclipse: Solar Safari
Enjoy a family friendly day at the Erie Zoo. The event will include different activities, entertainment, local food and beverage vendors, solar eclipse/solar system themed enrichment for animals, and some keepers will talk about the relationship between animals and the moon. Park Side of the Moon - Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
Watch the natural phenomenon from the beautiful Frontier Park grounds, with music, poetry reading, food and beer vendors. There will be children's eclipse activities and free eclipse-viewing glasses for the first 1,000 guests. More details here.

Eclipse Watch Party - Erie Land Lighthouse
Watch Erie's Total Solar Eclipse from the historic grounds of the Erie Land Lighthouse. There will be crafts, activities, and more! Parking is extremely limited. Information can be found here.

Total Eclipse of the Art - Jay & Mona Kang Art Show and Sale
One of the region’s largest and most diverse art exhibits, the Barber National Institute Art Show features the creative works of youth and adult artists across a variety of media. The show is April 5-7 & 9 and will illuminate the talent of regional artists during the once-in-a-lifetime event where Erie is in the path of a total solar eclipse. Artwork is selected by a panel of judges for cash prizes for the artists, and a People’s Choice Award is determined by visitors to the show. Eclipse Viewing Party with FEED
Join FEED for trivia, music, a science talk, art projects AND the eclipse at Griswold Park. Eclipse glasses–and some other surprises–will be provided! Find more details here.

Eclipsing Stars
This immersive multimedia exhibit by artist Alex "Ionesav" Staley and astrophysicist and folklorist Dr. Moiya McTier will open in February 2024, with the aim to inspire community members to think differently about science in the lead-up to the total solar eclipse. The exhibit will consist of floor-to-ceiling 3D-animated projections and multichannel audio, including a real-time interactive component that allows users to engage directly with the material.
The piece will be available for public viewing at FEED Media Center in February 2024, and will remain in place through Memorial Day. FEED is located at 1307 State Street, Erie.
ECLIPSE at the Food Hall
Head to the Flagship City Food Hall for a once-in-a-lifetime event: Erie's Total Solar Eclipse!
Ippa Pizza will be transformed into a total eclipse party zone.
Special food and drinks at participating kitchens.
Eclipse viewing and glasses will be available at Perry Square.

Brewerie at Union Station Eclipse Watch Party
Join Brewerie at Union Station on April 8th to celebrate the eclipse with live acoustic music by Tomkat Black from 12-2:30pm, a special release of Black Out Berry Ale, free eclipse glasses for the first 250 customers, lunch features, and sweet eclipse merch!

Elle Taylor Album Release Party at 1020 Collective
Pre-game the eclipse on Saturday, April 6 by experiencing the Elle Taylor Album Release Party featuring opening acts: Doc Proto, Nancy Boys, Frogs I Like, followed by Elle Taylor Band performing the new album "See The Sun" (Band: Dave Tamulonis, Peter Hohman, Nick Warren, and Eric Sandberg). Solar Eclipse Party at Voodoo Brewery
Voodoo will have a special cocktail and menu for the day of the eclipse. Join Voodoo out on their patio to watch this incredible event. Seating is limited and first come first serve so come early. The first 100 customers will also receive a pair of solar eclipse glasses. More details here.

Eclipse Viewing Party at Erie Brewing Company
Erie Brewing Company is hosting an eclipse viewing party at their Knowledge Park and West Lake Road location!
Erie Brewing Company and Big Rail Brewing will have a collaborative eclipse-themed beer on tap named "Sunglasses Required" The first 100 guests at both locations will receive a free pair of eclipse glasses.
The Knowledge Park location will have the lake overlook upstairs bar open.
The West Lake Road location will have outdoor grilling near the Beachwood Grill.

Eclipse Watch Party at Shoreline Bar
The Shoreline Bar at the Courtyard Marriott Bayfront is hosting an eclipse watch party with mobile outdoor and indoor bars opening at 8:00am! Eclipse themed cocktails and eclipse glasses will be available to purchase.

Eclipse Watch Party at Julius Restaurant at the Mannerchor
Julius Restaurant at the Mannerchor is hosting an eclipse watch party with food and music! Julius will be serving Mexico City Street Food: Antojitos Mexicanos (Tacoyos, Sopes, Memelas, Huaraches, Gorditas, Quesadillas, Toastadas); Tacos de Guisados (Picadillo, Chicharron, Papas con Chorizo, Rajas con Papas, Huevos con Chorizo, Huevos con Salchicha, Salpicon); and Torta (Cochinta Pibil, Chilaquiles, Milanesa, Jamon y Queso, Huevos con Chorizo).

Experience totality at Lake Erie Speedway! The Total Eclipse Festival will include rides and inflatables from Crazy Monkey, Inc., food and beverages, live music from Dan Baney & Stone Quarry Road and The Breeze Band, drifting and monster truck rides! Solar Eclipse Viewing Party At Peek'n Peak
Get ready to experience this phenomenon at The Peak! Peek’n Peak is opening the Resort to the PUBLIC on Monday, April 8, to enjoy the Total Eclipse!
The Peak will be hosting a Viewing Party on the Lodge Deck starting at 12 PM. Visitors can enjoy fire pits, music, and drinks from the J Bar while observing the Eclipse. Eclipse Viewing at Penn State Behrend
Penn State Behrend will be open for visitors looking to view the eclipse. Dr. Darren Williams, Professor of Physics and Astronomy, will be giving live play-by-play during the eclipse and totality via WJET TV.
JET meteorologist Tom Atkins will be present as well. The athletics department will have outdoor concession stands around campus open for food and bathroom facilities will be available at designated viewing locations.

Lights Out! in Lake Erie Wine Country
Lake Erie Wine Country spans across fifty miles in two states from Silver Creek N.Y. to Harborcreek with twenty wineries spread throughout the area. With a "Lights Out" ticket, visitors will sample food and wine pairings at each Lake Erie Wine Country winery from April 5-7, then return to their host winery to witness the event on Monday, April 8. Attendees will be given a pair of eclipse glasses on Monday when returning to the host winery. Tickets are $50, and available until sold out. Details and tickets here.

Eclipse Camp - April 7-9

Solar Eclipse Watch Party at Church of the Cross
Church of the Cross is hosting a viewing party for the Total Solar Eclipse. Starting at 10 a.m., the parking lot will be open. Glasses available for purchase for $5.
